A wildfire was buring out of control Friday south of Chetwynd Friday. The fire is 6 kilometres south of town and is now under control
The BC Wildfire Service said the wildfire was called in around 1:00pm Friday. It’s burning near Aslasen Road and Don Phillips Way and grew to 46 hectares in size.
Winds were gusting to 60 kms/hr on Friday afternoon, making it more difficult for firefighters to fight the blaze.
Two helicopters were on scene assisting 21 firefighters and the Chetwynd Fire Department.
The BC Wildfire Service said the fire is believed to be human caused.
