An earthquake struck northeastern B.C. on Saturday evening. Earthquakes Canada says it hit at 6:30pm, 62 kilometres west of Fort St. John.
The quake hit at a depth of seven kilometres and registered a 4.1 on the Richter Scale.
Similar sized earthquakes also occurred in the Peace Region in October and April of 2024. The BC Energy Regulator said fracking from energy companies were responsible for the two quakes last year.
“There are no reports of damage, and none would be expected,” the government alert reads.
