Fort St. John city officials have confirmed that all services have now been restored in connection with a recent cyber-attack on city hall.
The ‘My City Hall’ online payment system is the last remaining service to be restored, the city announced Wednesday.
City officials had confirmed that the February 25th incident was a ransomware attack, however they didn’t provide any money to the hackers.
The breach crippled phone lines, emails and much of the city’s internal network after an unauthorized third party gained access to part of the city’s network and encrypted data.
The attack also wreaked havoc on city services that has left cyber security experts grappling with the aftermath.
