Avalanche Canada has issued a warning to backcountry users in the Peace Region concerning dangerous conditions.

With the rise in temperatures and the increase in wind speeds this week, the risk of human-triggered avalanches has increased.

Combine that with fresh snow and Avalanche Canada says, the risk in the Peace Region is ‘considerable.’

The avalanche danger will be the highest where new snow and wind are forming fresh wind slabs.

Back country users are being told to avoid alpine and treeline areas. There’s also a moderate risk of an avalanche below the treeline level.
