By-election announced in Tumbler Ridge to replace outgoing Councillor Ken Klikach

The District of Tumbler Ridge has announced the date for an upcoming by-election to replace outgoing Councillor Ken Klikach, who resigned from his position on January 20th.

The by-election will be held on April 12th, 2025, with advanced voting taking place on April 2nd and 9th.

Nominations are now open for Kilkack’s replacement, with those interested in running for the position able submit their bid starting February 25th.

Nomination packages are available for download via the District’s website or can be picked up at the Town Hall.

The nomination period closes at 4:00 p.m. on March 7th.

To qualify, candidates must be nominated by at least two electors who are eligible to vote in Tumbler Ridge and meet the requirements for office.

Candidates must be Canadian citizens aged 18 years or older on voting day, have been residents of the province for at least six months prior to filing nomination papers, and not be disqualified under the Local Government Act.

Tumbler Ridge’s council consists of six councillors and Mayor Darryl Krakowka, representing a population of approximately 2,399 residents, according to the latest Statistics Canada data.
