Dramatic video was posted online of an arrest in Dawson Creek on Tuesday. A Mountie could be seen hammering at the window of a pickup truck with a firearm.
Officers were on patrol when they spotted the truck at the Co-op Home and Agro Centre. After running the license plate, it was discovered the vehicle had been stolen in Red Deer this past November.
Four officers approached the truck with weapons raised. They spotted a man and a woman sleeping in the vehicle and a firearm in plain view, resting on the centre console.
According to police, after the pair woke up, they were not compliant with officers. The woman is said to have reached for the gun but didn’t pick it up.
Both suspects were released at the scene. No charges have been laid as of yet, but they are being considered.
Police have determined the handgun was a replica but that does not lessen the severity of the crime.
