A semi-truck driver escaped injury after an accident in Fort St. John sent metal pipes crashing through the truck’s cab.

The incident occurred on March 22nd near Northern Lights Drive and Highway 97. Just before 11:30 a.m., Fort St. John RCMP responded to reports of a commercial vehicle losing its load.

Upon investigation, officers determined that the semi had slowed down, causing its unsecured load of metal pipes to shift and slide forward. The instability forced the vehicle toward the ditch, with several pipes piercing through the cab’s windshield.

“The driver was uninjured during the incident and was issued a violation ticket for insecure cargo,” said Fort St. John Media Relations Officer Chad Neustaeter.

The fine for the offense ranges from $250 to $520.
