The emergency department at the Dawson Creek and District Hospital is currently on diversion due to ‘staffing challenges.’

The service interruption began at 5:00 a.m. today and is expected to last until 3:00 p.m. Friday, as announced by Northern Health via social media.

In a notice to residents, Northern Health says that partners in patient transfer and local health services have been notified, and signage will be placed at the hospital.

Patients in need of life-threatening emergency care are advised to call 9-1-1 to be transported to the nearest available hospital in Fort St. John.

“We appreciate your continued understanding and support for our dedicated healthcare providers and staff,” said the Health Authority.
