A handful of candidates running for the federal riding of Prince George–Peace River–Northern Rockies have been officially announced, setting the stage for the April 28 election announced Sunday.

Incumbent MP Bob Zimmer will seek re-election with the Conservative Party. Zimmer took to social media to emphasize the significance of this election, saying, “There has never been a more important election for Canada’s future than this one,” accompanied by video of volunteers setting up and distributing lawn signs in support of his campaign.

Representing the People’s Party of Canada is Bear Lake postmaster and reservist David Watson, while the Green Party has put forward Mary Forbes, who is campaigning on promises of affordable housing and climate action.

As of now, candidates for the New Democratic Party (NDP) and the Liberal Party have yet to be officially named.
