Police investigating second murder of the year in the Dawson Creek area

A police officer is securing the scene at a house on 107th Avenue in Dawson Creek on April 15th, 2025

Sources have told CJDC TV News that there has been another murder in Dawson Creek.

Police have been at three scenes in and around the Dawson Creek area since Monday. It’s not clear if or how the scenes are connected or if the deceased was male or female.

Mounties were observed at a duplex on 116th Avenue and 16th Street on Tuesday.

The was also an officer securing the scene at a house on 107th Avenue. Neighbours said the police arrived at the duplex at around 9:00am Monday. Neighbours also said that officers were going door -to-door in the neighbourhood asking if anyone heard or saw anything.

There was also a large police presence including the use of a drone on 231 Road in South Dawson.

CJDC TV News reached out to the Dawson Creek RCMP to inquire about the investigation, however they were unable to comment. We then reached out to the North District Major Crime Unit in Prince George.

The RCMP said on Monday, Dawson Creek RCMP located human remains. The death is being treated as suspicious and E Division Major Crime has been called to assist and have conduct of the investigation.

“North District Major Crime investigators are working quickly to capture all available evidence,” said Superintendent Sanjaya Wijayakoon, of the BC RCMP Major Crime Unit. “Our teams will be there in the coming days and weeks, speaking to anyone with information to advance the investigation.”

The investigation is in the very early stages and no further details are available at this time. More information may be released as it becomes available.

This is the second murder of the year in Dawson Creek.
