CJDC TV News has now confirmed that a shooting took place in a Downtown motel in Dawson Creek on Sunday.
It happened late Sunday night in one of the rooms at the Mile Zero Motel. The North District Major Crime Unit from Prince George has taken over the case.
A source told CJDC TV News that a 20-year-old woman and 16-year-old girl were in the room at the time of the shooting. It is not clear at this point if police have someone in custody.
CJDC TV News has learned the name of the suspect and the victim but are choosing not to release their names at this point.
The victim had to be taken hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police were still at the motel on Tuesday afternoon. On Monday, the Forensic Unit could be seen through the window conducting an investigation.
There is still no confirmation that the shooting at the motel is linked to a murder that took place nearby in the 1000 block of 102nd Avenue.
With two drive-by shootings also taking place in Dawson Creek in the last 6 days, there is now a heavy police presence in the city.
