Suspect taken in custody after standoff with police in Taylor

A police standoff east of Edmonton has left residents on edge, Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014.

A large police presence in Taylor over the weekend has led to one person being taken in custody.

Just after 7pm Saturday, police were called to a residence on 102nd Street in Taylor for a report of person in emotional distress and who was acting violently.

Mounties contained the scene and began negotiating with the suspect. After the person refused to leave the residence, the Emergency Response Team was called in from Prince George.

Just after 12:30 Sunday morning, the suspect exited the residence and was taken into custody.

So far no there have been no charges laid against the suspect. The Fort St. John RCMP say their investigation is continuing.
