Three people were rushed to the hospital following a four-vehicle collision along Highway 97 early this morning.
RCMP, fire, and ambulance service responded to the scene just before 8:00 a.m. near the Shepherd’s Inn in Charlie Lake.
A pick-up, at a complete stop attempting to make a left-hand turn, was rear-ended. According to police, the impact pushed the vehicle to the shoulder, while the other motorist that hit it spun and blocked the highway.
Two other vehicles, traveling north and southbound, sustained damage after the drivers ended up in ditches on the side of the roadway attempting to avoid the accident.
“Three individuals were transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries,” said Cst. Chad Neustaeter in a release.
The highway was reduced to a single lane with alternating traffic until it was cleared and has since been fully reopened.
