Transit users being warned about scam involving fake transit fare cards

Transit users are being warned about a scam circulating on social media. BC Transit said that fraudsters are using the BC Transit logo to impersonate the agency.

Those who use the bus are being encouraged by scammers, to buy transit fare cards, via a link on Facebook.

The agency said, “BC Transit is aware of a scam on Facebook using our logo and encouraging riders to buy Umo fare products through a fraudulent link. We do not sell Umo products on social media.”

BC Transit is reminding the public not to click on a link that you don’t trust and don’t provide personal or credit card information on an unsecured site.

If you come across the Facebook post, you are being urged to report it to the parent company Meta.
