Two homes in Dawson Creek shot at as fleeing suspects then fire at police officers

A residence on 119th Avenue is behind police tape after shots were fire at the house in Dawson Creek.

Shots were fired into two homes and at police officers in Dawson Creek, resulting in two people being arrested.

Dawson Creek RCMP confirm that in the early morning hours of Thursday, shots were fired at a residence on 103rd Avenue.

A witness said at around 4:30am he heard four shots ring out. A vehicle was then seen leaving the parking lot beside the home.

Bullets hit the house and the trailer in the backyard. Two bullet holes surrounded by police markings were still on the side of the trailer Friday afternoon.

CJDC TV News has learned that the girlfriend of a well-known suspect Tanner Murray, lives at the residence.

Police confirm that no one was hurt in the shooting.

Then early Friday morning, more shots rang out on 119th Avenue in Dawson Creek. Neighbours told CJDC TV News that 4 shots were fired at the house.

CJDC-TV News has confirmed that Travis West is one of the occupants of the home. Witnesses say that a car sped off followed by the sound of broken glass.

Then a second vehicle was heard leaving the scene.

As the suspects fled, police say they fired shots at officers who were on their way to the scene.

Officers re-located the suspect vehicle unoccupied and a police service dog was deployed.

No one was reported injured in the incident.

Two people are in custody. They can not be named at this point as formal charges have yet to be filed.

A third suspect fled in a dark-colored mid-2000s GMC or Chevy pickup truck, which sustained significant front-end damage after colliding with a police car during the escape.

Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating the truck and suspect that’s being described as:

  • Approximately 5’8”
  • Thin build
  • Brown hair and eyes
  • Tattoo down the right side of the neck along the hairline
  • Tunnel piercings in the ears
  • Last seen driving a dark-colored 2000s GMC or Chevy pickup with extensive front-end damage

Neighbours say that there is traffic coming and going to the house at all hours of the day. It’s not clear at this point if the two shootings are connected.

“Dawson Creek RCMP request that the public call 911 if they see this man or the vehicle and to not approach, said Cpl. Brett Urano BC RCMP spokesperson. “We are thankful that no one was injured this morning and are grateful for the public’s assistance thus far. We are continuing our investigation and ask any witnesses to please come forward if they have not yet spoken to an investigator.”
