Two suspects are facing a slew of charges after a vehicle allegedly stolen from Beaverlodge was spotted in Kelly Lake.

Dawson Creek RCMP said that just before 2pm Monday, they received a call about a stolen pick-up and 2 snow mobiles.

When officers arrived at the scene they found 2 male suspects. Police allege that the first suspect jumped in the truck and tried to flee. The man quickly became stuck in the snow and was then pulled out of the vehicle, screaming to be let go.

The man then yelled at the second suspect to try and steal the police car. Instead, the second suspect retrieved a can of bear spray from the pick-up and allegedly pointed it at the 2 officers.

The officers were forced to let go on the first suspect to confront the man, with what had become a prohibited weapon, according to police. The man with the bear spray was taken into custody, but the first suspect fled into the woods.

Police brought in the K-9 unit to hunt for the man to no avail. Later, Mounties found the man hiding in an abandoned farmhouse. He was taken into custody with the help of the police dog.

Investigators said that a subsequent search of the stolen truck turned up a 12-gauge shot gun, body armour, night vision googles and a crossbow.
